    According to David Perlmutter a neurologist and fellow of the American College of Nutrition the answer is yes. In his book a “Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth About Wheat, Carbs, and Sugar” he claims that grains are responsible for many degenerative brain disorders and he has devised a version of the Paleo Diet. His claim that “the idea that people are nutritionally deprived because they don’t eat grain has no scientific basis” is controversial and his diet is very strict (any cheating can be harmful).
