Cure the Average Illness with Natural Health

Staying healthy doesn’t have to cost very much at all. It’s likely that you keep plenty of natural health cures in your home already-you just don’t know it yet! It’s easy to run out to the drug store and grab a few boxes of medication when you feel the sniffles set in because it feels like the drugs are a magical cure. The impending flu has been foiled! You can save a lot of money and time by choosing a natural health option over the latest in over the counter medications.

Water is essential. There is more to drinking water than getting the proverbial six to eight glasses a day that we all need to survive. When you have a headache, try drinking some water instead of heading for the aspirin or Advil bottle. Many headaches start because of dehydration. Drinking a glass of water can help that headache start to wane in a matter of minutes. While water is great for hydration it is great for other things too. A natural way to break a fever is to have the person with the fever sit in a hot tub of water for a little while (while keeping a cool compress on his or her head). The heat of the water in a hot bath will make you start sweating, which is what will help break your fever (and it will relax your muscles as well). You want to sweat when you have a fever because it is how your fever will be brought down by your body.

Oranges and orange juice aren’t your only sources of vitamin C! Those leafy greens you usually pass up are also great sources of Vitamin C! When you feel a cold or flu starting to take hold, start chowing down on salads and other leafy greens to help combat the germs that are trying to invade. You can also find vitamin C in other citrus fruits like limes and lemons.

Adding bell peppers to your foods is a great idea because bell peppers are another good source of vitamin C! The addition of the peppers won’t just make your food tastier it will help boost your immune system as well.

Echinacea has been a popular natural health item for more than a decade now. Echinacea works by attacking a cold when it is still in its early stages which is why you need to take some as soon as you begin to feel cold or flu symptoms. Some people insist that, when taken early on, Echinacea can stop a cold or the flu in its tracks. If you’re already in the throes of a cold or the flu, taking some Echinacea can help the healing process along and lessen your symptoms. Getting better only takes about 1200 mgs a day for a few days. Don’t try to take all 1200 mgs at once; in order to get the right dosage take 400mgs three times a day.

When you get a cold you can choose something besides spending money on pharmaceuticals. To help yourself fight off illness and to get better when you do get sick, forego the chemicals and choose the natural health cures that are already in your kitchen. Why waste a bunch of time and money that can be better spent elsewhere? Natural health options are better than chemical options.
